Digital Citizenship
As our learners interact digitally–with content, one another, and various social communities, the concept of digital citizenship becomes increasingly important as our learners communicate and explore in this digital world.
Citizenship, is defined as “the quality of an individual’s response to membership in a community.” Just as we understand what a good citizen is we continue this kind of response in our own digital community. Our goal for our learners is a “self-monitored participation that reflects conscious interdependence with all (visible and less visible) community members”. We want our learners to make good choices in their actions, consumptions habits and digital content. The Diocese of Orange supports the Common Sense Media Program for all elementary schools. Our learners (K-8) complete the required e-rate material, along with many projects that demonstrate understanding of content. Students have created songs, webpages, glogsters, research projects, blogging profiles, Edmodo, BrainPOP and i-Movies that demonstrate good Digital Citizenship principles. Check out our blogs filled with projects for 2-4 grades. |
